• Threaded gas ends DIN 259

For Whitworth threads for tubes and fittings, a difference must be made according to their planned use between sealed and unsealed connections.
Their basic profile is an isosceles triangle with a vertex angle = 55º. The danger of confusing the outer tapered thread according to ISO 7/1 with the outer cylindrical thread according to DIN 259 lies in safety risks. To clarify this safety risk, the different sealing functions of threaded connections are indicated; the cylindrical thread according to DIN 259 (ISO 228/1) requires an additional sealed element on the front of the parts to be threaded. On the tapered thread for tubes and fittings ISO 7/1 (DIN 2999, part 1) a solution will be used for sealing (hemp or PTFE tape).
