• Male threaded gas ends according to DIN 2999

For Whitworth threads for tubes and fittings, a difference must be made according to their planned use between sealed and unsealed connections.
An outer tapered thread together with an inner cylindrical thread is used on sealed connections (see DIN 2999, part 1)

Both threads are cylindrical on unsealed connections, both inner and outer. The nominal measurements included in DIN 259, part 1 correspond to international standards ISO 228/1-1978. Standards ISO 7/1-1978 and ISO 228/1-1978 have included thread classifications. This led to a danger of confusion, as the symbol for an ISO 7/1-1978 thread is identical to the thread classification known until known according to DIN 259. Outer threads with no indication of tolerance should use the “average” tolerance. Where the “up to” tolerance is accepted, this must be indicated by the letter “g”, e.g. DIN 259 R 3/4 g.
